About Department of Agronomy
The Department of Agronomy was started under Agra University, Agra, from 1960 to 1975. With the establishment of M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly in 1975, Department of Agronomy is working as per the instructions of M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. From the year 1998, the permission to open M.Sc. (Ag.) Agronomy degree programme was temporarily received from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, which is later being operated through a self-finance system.
From 2011, the semester system was implemented in the University based on the recommendation of the 4th Dean’s Committee of ICAR, and then according to the 5th Dean’s Committee of ICAR, M.Sc. (Ag.) Agronomy degree programme is offered continuously, and from 2022, Ph.D. (Ag.) Agronomy degree programme and research facility is also available in the Department of Agronomy, RSM (PG) College, Dhampur, Bijnor.
Vision
- To conduct agronomic research by creating fresh ideas and methods for producing sustainable crops.
Mandate
- To provide an educational experience that transforms students’ lives that focuses on deep subject knowledge, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as individual health and well-being.
- To design agronomical technology that satisfies farmers’ needs depending on their feedback.
